Not Ready for Prime Time

As an entrepreneur who's completed 18 successful startups since the early 80s, I'd say this book belongs in the 1980s. In my opinion, doing a startup using the methods as written here in today's environment would not attract customers. However, I'd say you should read this book because it's cheap and it has ideas that can be used to understand what not to do and to create better ideas. It'll also help Ryan Mulvihill to improve upon what he has. What's important is to read diverse ideas because that's when your knowledgebase helps you to make better decision. For contrast, I'd also read some of the more data-proven methods such as "Traction," the 99U series, books by Chip and Dan Heath, "X - the Experience When Business Meets Design," "Change or Die," "Creative Confidence," and much of Clayton Christensen and Peter Drucker's works.

Relatable and personable book with great advice

Very relatable writing. I applaud Ryan's honesty and ability to share his (sometimes embarrassing) mistakes. I love the personable tone this book was written in - it felt like you were talking to a mentor with a lot of personal experience to back up their preaching. I like that it really goes over the fear of rejection and how to overcome it (which is one of the bigger issues for a lot of new entrepreneurs)!

This is a great read for anyone who is-
A) Interested in starting a new business and wants to test out their idea.
At its core this is a market research book that uses cold calling to get real feedback FAST. Most people are too afraid to actually call up real people and ask for their feedback. If you're creating a product or service you absolutely need to cold call people you don't know to get accurate feedback. Your friends and family will not tell you the total truth.
b) Anyone who has cold calling anxiety.
Ryan gives great advice for both camps. I have struggled with cold calls in the past, even when I'm offering the client free leads(which is basically free money in a way). He gives us some great practical exercises to prepare us better, as well as tell us stories from his past cold calling experiences that reminds us its never as bad as we think it is.
Overall a great read that's helping me a lot with the cold calling I've been doing.
