This updated version of their previous ELL text is great. You get all the latest research results and the stories/case studies are updated as well. This book has been of tremendous value in my revisiting teaching ELL. Easy to understand since they put it into everyday language.

Excellent introduction to English learner issues

I use this book for a professional development course for general education teachers who work with English Learners in their mainstream classes. The Freemans' write well, making the subject accessible to teachers who may be skeptical. The authors include case studies that help the reader see English learners as individuals, and offer practical methods for integrating language development into the general education classroom.
